Welcome to the OSIG website!

Outdoor S.I.G. (aka OSIG) is the Outdoor Special Interest Group of the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) Program (you don't have to be a JET to join).

Created in 1997, OSIG offers a means by which JETs can get outdoors in Japan. By utilizing the combined experiences of both serious outdoor enthusiasts and beginners alike, OSIG provides its members with the resources to challenge themselves and better enjoy the Japanese Outdoors! Take part in mountain biking, snow sports, hiking or camping, venture into an onsen or try any other activity that involves you being in the outdoors!

We are currently overhauling the structure of OSIG, with a view to abolishing the membership fee, and making it more accessible to everyone. The new structure will be centred around a forum, where people can meet and exchange ideas about outdoorsy stuff to do in their region. This will make outdoorsig more member-centred, and hopefully mean people can get out more!

At the moment, OSIG has TWO WEBSITES…….This site, the 'MAIN PAGE' website with its database of articles, info on the structure of OSIG, Annual Events Info, the e-newsletter and a links section. Our other website is the constantly changing 'INTERACTIVE PAGE', where any member can view and/or post message, photos and links.
